Airbus regrets to confirm that an A320 operated by TACA was involved in an accident shortly after 9:40 a.m. local time. The aircraft was operating a scheduled service, flight 390, from El Salvador to Miami with stop-over in Tegucigalpa.
The aircraft involved in the accident, registered as EI - TAF, was MSN (Manufacturer Serial Number) 1374, delivered to TACA from the production line in January 2001. The aircraft had accumulated approximately 21,960 flight hours in some 9,990 flights. It was powered by International Aero Engines V2500 engines. At this time no further factual information is available.
In line with ICAO Annex 13 international convention, Airbus will provide full technical assistance to the Investigation Authorities led by El Salvador Investigator In Charge, who are responsible for the investigation into the accident through the Bureau d’Enquete et d’Analyse (BEA). A team of five specialists from Airbus is being dispatched to Honduras.
The concerns and sympathy of the Airbus employees go to the families, friends and loved ones affected by the accident of Flight TACA 390.
The A320 is a twin-engine single-aisle aircraft seating 150 passengers in a standard two-class configuration. By the end of April 2008, 3,471 A320 Family aircraft had been delivered to 276 customers. Airbus is an EADS company.
